Maintaining a community of excellence in transplantation requires the ongoing recruitment of outstanding students and residents to the field.  The ASTS Pipeline Award recognizes an ASTS member who is dedicated to student and resident development through outreach, clinical engagement or research efforts. Each year, the Pipeline Taskforce will recognize the recipient during the Awards Ceremony at the Winter Symposium. This award is distinct from the Francis Moore mentorship award in that it recognizes mentorship efforts directed towards medical students and residents, in contrast to fellows and junior faculty.

Award Amount: The award recipient will support the attendance of one of his/her mentees to the ASTS Winter Symposium, including a $1,500 honorarium, hotel accommodations for three nights (room and tax only), and complimentary registration to the Winter Symposium.

Eligibility:

  • Eligible applicants must be a regular or associate ASTS member <25 years in practice.
  • Nominee’s CV
  • The applicants cannot be a previous recipient of the ASTS Pipeline Award.

Submission Requirements:

  • Applicants must provide a brief summary of their role in the transplant pipeline
  • At least two nomination letters from mentees whose career choice has been impacted by the nominee.

Review Criteria:

Applicants must show dedication to the transplant experience of residents or medical students through at least one of the following:

  • Project development targeting recruitment of residents and/or medical students
  • Recognize research focused on the education of residents or medical students
  • Outstanding mentorship of residents or students
